Interstate 520 (abbreviated I-520) partly encircles Augusta, Georgia. I-520 is also known as Bobby Jones Expressway and unsigned State Route 415. It begins at Interstate 20 northwest of the city, and hooks around to the south and then east. Its current terminus is at U.S. Route 1 in North Augusta, South Carolina.
At the moment, construction projects are underway to end the highway at Exit 5 in North Augusta. The project is said to be completed within thirty-one months, according to SCDOT. The highway becomes known as the Palmetto Parkway once it crosses east into South Carolina. I-20 runs north of the city, with Aiken, South Carolina across the Savannah River to the east side.
In Georgia, it is named for golfer Bobby Jones, in South Carolina it is named for the palmetto, the state tree.
I-520 loses its state route designation in South Carolina, as it does not co-number its interstates with state highway numbers.
