The International Thespian Festival in an annual week-long theatre festival that brings together U.S. high school theatre clubs, thespian troupes, and programs. Organized by the International Thespian Society, it is held annually in late June on the campus of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in Lincoln, Nebraska.
During the week-long festival, high school students (and their sponsors) can watch and produce full-length and one-act plays, attend a number of workshops (including topics such as acting, playwrighting, stage lighting, to Broadway's fight on AIDS, power napping, etc.), and compete in various acting events (competitors advanced from state-level competition). There are auditions for national cast productions, usually to premiere the school edition of a large Broadway show (such as Ragtime and Hairspray), as well as individual events, such as mime, monologue, musical duets, costume design and set design.
