Sufi Hazrat Inayat Khan (1882 - 1927) brought Universal Sufism to the West in 1910.

The roots of Universal Sufism run deep in the ancient traditions of the East: the Vedic, Zoroastrian, and Buddhist traditions, and also the traditions of Christianity and Judaism.

"'Sufi Message' is a Message today, being given to humanity. It is not a Message of the East, but it is the Message of the Soul, of the Spirit," (from a recording of Hazrat Inayat Khan, New York City).

Hazrat Inayat Khan founded The International Sufi Movmentto spread the Message of "Love [which] develops into harmony, and of harmony's born beauty" (Bowl of Saki).

He founded a Movement, suggesting its flow to the future.

The organization is currently lead by Pir-o-Murshid Hidayat Inayat Khan] the youngest son of Hazrat Inayat Khan, who serves as Representative-General of the International Sufi Movement and Pir of its Inner School, and Murshid Karimbakhsh (Dr.H. J. Witteveen), who serves as Executive Supervisor (Vice President) and economic advisor.
