International Service for Human Rights

The International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) is a Geneva- and New York-based human rights NGO that specializes in providing training, information and advice for defenders of human rights worldwide. Established in 1984, the ISHR provides information on both international (UN) and regional human rights law and procedures.
ISHR is divided into three departments: the Information Unit, the Education and Training Program (ETP), and the Human Rights Defenders Office (HRDO). The Information Unit has recently compiled a guide to the transition from the UN Commission on Human Rights to the Human Rights Council, entitled A New Chapter for Human Rights.
The ETP empowers human rights defenders by providing training courses and workshops both in Geneva and worldwide. The ETP teaches people how to use international human rights law and international and regional human rights procedures in defining and implementing their strategies. ETP's principal focus is on the UN but it also trains other inter-governmental and regional bodies.
