International Group

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Group was the name taken by three group of British supporters of the reunified Fourth International, both including Bob Pennington and Charlie van Gelderen.

In both cases, the Group was formed as a public faction by members loyal to the International who felt that at particular times the then-current leadership of the British section of the Fourth International had broken with its political continuity.

  1. By 1962, the group had formed around former members of the CPGB and SLL.[1] Sometimes also known as the Internationalist Group, it later merged into the Revolutionary Socialist League
  2. In 1965, the International Group was formed by split from the RSL. In 1969 the IG became the British section of the International, and changed its name to the International Marxist Group.
  3. In 1985, a group split from the International Marxist Group which also called itself the International Group. In 1987 it merged with the Socialist Group and became the International Socialist Group, which became the British section of the International in 1989.
