International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition is one of the oldest and most prestigious piano competitions in the world, taking place in Warsaw since 1927 and held every 5 years since 1955.[1]
It was founded by the Polish pianist Jerzy Żurawlew, and named after Frédéric Chopin. Until the 2000 competition, the jury had not awarded all six prizes. In 2000 all six prizes were awarded and after 15 years of not awarding the First Prize, the award went to Yundi Li of China; the first Chinese ever to receive the award.
