International Day Against Female Genital Mutilation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

International Day Against Female Genital Mutilation is a UNICEF-sponsored awareness day that takes place February 6 each year. The idea came from the Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices Affecting the Health of Women and Children in May 2005.[1] [2]

It is an effort to make the world aware of female genital cutting and to promote its eradication.
