International Commission on Stratigraphy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The International Commission on Stratigraphy concerns itself with stratigraphy on a global scale. It is the largest scientific body within the International Union of Geological Sciences. One of its main aims is to establish a standard and global geologic time scale by encouraging an international and open debate amongst paleontologists.
The ICS publishes revised references periodically, summarized in the International Stratigraphic Chart (PDF file, updated January 2008).
