International Coalition of Library Consortia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The International Coalition of Library Consortia (ICOLC) is an informal, self-organized group of primarily higher-education library consortia from around the world for the discussion of issues of common interest among the consortia members.
ICOLC conducts meetings at locations around the world geared towards keeping participating consortia informed about new electronic information resources, pricing practices of content providers and system vendors, and other issues of importance to the directors and governing boards of library consortia. During these sessions, the Coalition meets with members of the information provider community, providing a forum for them to discuss their offerings and to engage in dialog with consortial leaders about issues of mutual concern.
All consortia anywhere in the world whose members are in general agreement with the ICOLC Statement of Current Perspective may join the ICOLC. ICOLC first met informally as the Consortium of Consortia (COC) in 1997.
