International Association of Scientific, Technical, and Medical Publishers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM) is an international organization of approximately 100 scientific, technical and medical publishers collectively responsible for nearly 66% of the annually published journals literature and tens of thousands of monographs and references works.

STM aims and objectives focus on assisting publishers and authors in disseminating their research in the disciplines of science, technology, and medicine. In a broader context, they are focused on helping organizations in electronic and digital arenas, to improve the distribution, storage and retrieval of scientific, technical, and medical information. They also work with other important publishing entities including the International Publishers Association (IPA), and governmental and professional bodies who have concerns for publishing issues at hand.

STM members are notified by regular newsletters about information concerning happenings globally which have the potential to affect their business. STM also offers training courses and information-sharing meetings for both members and non-members.

STM holds an annual conference, which is held one day preceding the Frankfurt Book Fair.
