The International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT) – Schaumburg campus is one of ten IADT locations throughout North America. Originally founded as the International Academy of Merchandising and Design, Ltd. in 1977 by Clem Stein, Jr. In 2001, the Academy changed its name to the International Academy of Design & Technology.

All applicants are required to complete a personal interview with an admissions representative, either in person or by telephone. In addition to the interview, the following must completed prior to admission: an enrollment agreement, a student disclosure form, attestation of graduation from high school or equivalency and payment of application fee.[1]

The facilities at IADT – Schaumburg include classrooms, lecture rooms, drafting labs, design studios, and sewing and patternmaking rooms. Computer labs are equipped with Macintosh and IBM compatible personal computers with software for computer aided design (CAD), graphic design, word processing, database management, spreadsheet analysis and computer aided pattern drafting. The Schaumburg library collection has electronic resources with access to e-Books and full-text journal, magazine, and newspaper articles.

The campus is located in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago in Schaumburg, IL, two blocks from the Woodfield Shopping Mall, one of the largest enclosed malls in the country. Schaumburg is also home to the Chicago Athenaeum, a museum of architecture and design; the second largest IKEA, a Swedish based home furnishing store; large corporations, including IBM, Intel, Xerox, A.C. Nielsen, Zurich and Motorola; and many restaurants and hotels. The city of Schaumburg celebrates the annual “Septemberfest”, held during Labor Day weekend.[3]
