Intermontane Belt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Intermontane Belt is a region in British Columbia, Canada. It has rolling hills, high plateaus and deeply cut valleys. The rocks in the belt have very little similarities with North America. The granitic rocks in the region are related to the volcanic activity of an ancient island arc and to the later buildup of the Insular Belt rocks. The island arc that collided against North America to form the belt is called the Intermontane Islands.
