[edit] History
Interactive Data was an early computer time-sharing vendor in the mid 1960s. Along with National CSS, Interactive Data used the IBM System/360-67 and the open source CP/CMS operating system as the basis for selling remote computer services. IBM had made this system available to customers in 1968, without support, in source code form. Both NCSS and Interactive Data hired key technicians from the CP/CMS community (at IBM's Cambridge Scientific Center, MIT's Lincoln Laboratory, and Union Carbide), and began selling computer time shortly thereafter. Interactive Data focused on financial industry; NCSS had a broader client base.
