Integrated Ballistic Identification System

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Integrated Ballistic Identification System or IBIS is an Automated firearms identification system manufactured by Forensic Technology WAI, Incorporated of Montreal, Canada.

IBIS automates the tedious process of cross-matching bullets and/or cartridge cases recovered from crime scenes against those already on file with the investigating agency.

Prior to IBIS, the only way to compare ballistic evidence was through the use of a Comparison Microscope.
