Category:Intercontinental ballistic missiles
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Intercontinental ballistic missiles or ICBMs form a key part of the nuclear deterrent forces of the United States, Russia, and China. Developed during the Cold War, ICBMs are large missiles designed to be launched from their home country and reach targets around the globe, leaving no corner safe from attack and retaliation in the case of a nuclear war. Most are based in permanent silos, but some are mobile. To achieve intercontinental range, ICBMs essentially always enter space, and hence may be technically classed as spacecraft.
