[edit] Overview

Pulchowk Campus is the most reputed college affiliated with IOE. Every year IOE conducts an entrance exam for Bachelor of Engineering in different faculties. Students from all over Nepal aspiring to study engineering appear in this exam and only the top students in merit basis get the chance to study in Pulchowk Campus. Thousands of other students who do not get the opportunity to study in Pulchowk Campus study in other Private Engineering colleges affiliated with IOE.

The departments of Pulchowk Campus are: 1. Architecture Department 2. Civil Engineering Department 3. Electrical Engineering Department 4. Electronics and Computer Engineering Department 5. Mechanical Engineering Department

Over the past few years the toughest competition in entrance exam is among the students vying to get into Electronics and Communications engineering, followed closely by Computer Engineering. Civil Engineering carries a long history in Pulchowk Campus and has contributed from the beginning to make Pulchowk campus the prime destination for thousands of Nepalese engineering students.

[edit] Robotics Club

IOE is known for its national prominence in the field of Robotics and Computer Science. The Robotics project are particularly prepared for national and international competitions.

Robotics Club of IOE, Pulchowk Campus was established with the initiation of students in 2001. It is under the Department of Mechanical Engineering and is supported by Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering.

Students working in Robotics Club of Pulchowk Campus, IOE, has been representing Nepal in all editions of ABU Robocon (International Robot competition, organized by Asian Broadcasting Union)since 2002. The club encourages and supports research in the field of robotics and automation. The students from Robotics club also have been participating in Techfest organized by IIT in India.

Apart from participating in international robot building contests, Robotics Club organizes annual National Machine Design Competition. Private engineering colleges from around the country participate in the competition. The first edition of the National Machine Design Competition organized in 2004 was called Robosoccer, followed by Roboshooter(2005), Robocup Nepal-Mission Everest(2006) and Robocup Nepal- Bhoto Jatra(2008).

[edit] Other facts

Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk was selected as one of the top ten finalists in an International Computer Design Competition (CSIDC) organized by IEEE in 2004.

Recently a group of students from Mechanical Engineering Department designed and built an Ultra Light Aircraft and was well receeved by the experts and public in Nepal.
