Institut Henri Poincaré

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Institut Henri Poincaré is a mathematical institute in Paris which has established itself over its eighty year history as an important meeting place for French and international mathematicians and theoretical physicists. The Institute hosts seminars and quarterly and half-yearly themed programmes for visiting scholars through its Centre Emile Borel, maintains an extensive library, and houses many of the French national scientific societies in mathematics and physics.

The Institute is situated just off the rue d'Ulm on the montagne Sainte-Geneviève in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, close to the École Normale Supérieure and parts of the Collège de France. Administratively it operates as an "école interne" of the University of Paris VI: Pierre et Marie Curie, in association with the Centre national de la recherche scientifique.
