Inspector Alan Banks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks is the fictional protagonist of Peter Robinson's series of novels. He lives in the English town of Eastvale. He has two children, Tracy and Brian. His wife Sandra divorced him and remarried.

He works at the Tudor-styled Eastvale Police Station and has his own small office with a metal desk and two chairs, its window looking onto the town's busy Market Square.

His good taste in music and charms help him to relate to his suspects (and victims) and he can come down hard and get his answers out of the suspects eventually.

So far there are 16 novels in the Alan Banks series, with a further to follow. They have been shortlisted for and won a number of the most prestigious award in crime-fiction, including the Arthur Ellis Award, the Anthony Award, and the Edgar Award.
