Inje University is a private university founded in 1932, located in Gimhae, Korea. As of March 1, 2007, it had 1,210 faculty members and staff in total, 14,387 Undergraduate students and 1,472 Graduate students.

It started as surgical clinic opened by Dr. In-Je Paik, who then donated all of his assets and founded Paik Hospital, the first civilian non-profit organization of its kind in Korea. In 1979 Inje Medical College opened, and in 1989 Inje College was promoted to Inje University, with Dr. Nakwhan Paik inaugurated as the first President of Inje University.

Inje University is rooted in Paik Hospital, the first civilian non-profit organization of its kind in Korea. The founding mission is to save the world through love and virtue. The educational goals are: to preserve nature; to value human lives and philanthropy. The school precepts are honesty, sincerity, and diligence.

1932 Dr. In-Je Paik, Chief Surgeon of Kyungsung Medical Junior College opened a surgical clinic at the present location of Seoul Paik Hospital.

Dec.1946 Dr. In-Je Paik donated all of his assets and founded Paik Hospital, the first civilian non-profit organization of its kind in Korea.

Mar. 1972 Seoul Paik Hospital completed.

Jan. 1979 Inje Educational Foundation and Inje Medical College established by Dr. Nakwhan Paik and Dr. Nakjo Paik. Dr. Nakjo Paik inaugurated as Chairman of the Board of trustees. The Paik Medical Center opened. Dr. Nakwhan Paik inaugurated as the first Director of the Medical Center.

Mar. 1979 Inje Medical College opened.

Jun. 1979 Busan Paik Hospital opened.

Mar. 1983 The Graduate School of Health established.

Mar. 1984 School name changed to Inje College. Kimhae campus opened.

Mar. 1989 Inje College promoted to Inje University. Dr. Nakwhan Paik inaugurated as the first President of Inje University.

Aug. 1989 Sanggye Paik Hospital established and opened.

Mar. 1994 The Graduate School of Business established.

Mar. 1996 The Graduate School of Education established. Center for Continuing Education opened. Clean-up campaign for Nakdong river started.

Mar. 1997 Indukjae residence hall opened (capacity: 2,023)

Mar. 1998 Paik Inje Memorial Library and Administration Hall opened.

May. 1999 Received the seventh Grand Prize for Environmental Protection efforts by Chosun Daily Newspaper.

Jun. 1999 Established Inje Insung (Humanity) Award commemorating the 20th anniversary of the university.

Nov. 1999 The Graduate School of Social Welfare established.

Dec. 1999 Ilsan Paik Hospital opened.

Apr. 2000 Dr. Nakwhan Paik inaugurated as the Chairman of the Board and as Honorary President.

May 2000 Dr. Yoongu Lee inaugurated as the second President.

Jul. 2000 The Graduate School of Advanced Industrial Technology established.

Mar. 2001 Dongrae Paik Hospital opened.

Mar. 2002 Biomedical Engineering Building opened.

May 2002 Jungsanjae, the Inhyunjae Center for Preparation of State Exams opened.

Jul. 2003 Selected as one of the best universities in the nationwide university evaluation.

Mar. 2004 Dr. Changmo Sung inaugurated as the third President of Inje University.

Jun. 2004 Selected as one of the New Universities for Regional Innovation (NURI)

Sep. 2004 Selected as one of the Superior Universities for 8 consecutive years (1997~2004) in Comprehensive Evaluation by JungAng Daily Newspaper.

Nov. 2004 Placed Third in the Nation and First among Local Universities in Employment Rate According to Education & Human Resources Ministry.

Feb. 2005 College of General Education Newly Established

Sep. 2005 Ilgangwon Opened.

Oct. 2005 Placed Second in the Nation in Employment Rate According to Education & Human Resources Ministry.

Mar. 2006 Project teams selected for Brain Korea 21 by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource

Jun. 2006 Inje University Museum Established

Jul. 2006 Manpower for High-added value industry fostering project selected. Project teams selected for NURI to enhance the regional innovation by the Ministry of Education. and Human Resource.
