[edit] Created

The article "inherent bias" was created on 31 January 2008 (by User:Wikid77) to support discussions about NPOV neutrality with the need to state biases or assumptions on an article's meta-subpage (such as "/meta") to clarify viewpoints behind an article's content which might or might not slant the outlook in the written text/images. -Wikid77 (talk) 12:53, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] On article: inherent bias

31-Jan-2008: Wikipedia has had no article on inherent bias (Google 69,300 hits!), so I have created it: anyone is welcome to join in. Meanwhile, see some viewpoints about inherent bias:

  • In opinion polls or statistics: "OECD Glossary of Statistical Terms - Inherent bias Definition" at OECD.org, webpage: Statistical Terms - Inherent bias;
  • In journalism: "Audeamus - How dare we...: The Press's Inherent Bias" at Audeamus.com (by Miche), webpage: The Press's Inherent Bias;
  • Search the Internet for "inherent bias".

My bias is that's enough for now, and it's not the only major term that Wikipedia didn't cover in 2007: we're all trying to fill in the major gaps in WP coverage. -Wikid77 (talk) 12:53, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Biases/assumptions behind article

The following are some underlying biases or assumptions that affect the content of the article as it develops:

  • Bias the article to show main definitions of the term "inherent bias" because minor definitions might confuse many readers [31Jan08].
  • Assume that examples are needed to clarify various definitions for the readers [31Jan08].
  • Assume that the very title "inherent bias" will attract soapbox slanting to try to push particular viewpoints disguised as examples or such [31Jan08].
  • Assume a "References in popular culture" will attract numerous slanted statements, so limit the number of cultural items or some other approach to avoid a massive list which might attract soapbox ranting [31Jan08].

Other biases/assumptions+date should be added above. -Wikid77 (talk) 13:16, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
