[edit] Ferrari

I removed the Ferrari reference, since the source I based upon was not reliable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.35.176.87 (talk) 15:21, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Clarifications

This passage was removed: According to Swedish business weekly Veckans Affärer [1], he is the wealthiest person in the world. However, this assertion is denied by IKEA, which notes that Kamprad no longer owns the company, which should therefore not be included in reports of his wealth. Forbes magazine continues to rank Bill Gates at #1, ranking Kamprad at #13.

General Electric "trades for" $370 billion. But the value is split on 10.57 billion shares. And no one person owns all of them. Jeffrey Immelt is the CEO and owns 683,532 of them. IKEA is not a "public company" and doesn't disclose very detailed ownership information. ([2]) But probably no company valued above $50 billion is owned by a single person. - Jerryseinfeld 21:20, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I believe that assumption is slightly incorrect as IK's family does privately own the company.
Correct or not, the information that this was reported should be in the article. Fredrik | talk 12:35, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Being bold and adding it. [maestro] 14:17, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)

There are some free-to-use pictures of Kamprad lecturing at Växjö University (a press release) at http://www.vxu.se/presscenter/pressreleaser/040423_kamprad.html "kan fritt användas för publicering (fotograf: Hasse Karlsson)", translation: "may be freely published (photographer: Hasse Karlsson)". Don't have time to add them myself. --anonymous

I have uploaded these to Commons and added one of them here. up+land 14:15, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Alcoholic

"he was once an alcoholic which is something that he regrets" This does not sound well with me. Being alcoholic is not something that you get over. Regretting it is like regretting that you had cancer. This should be rewritten for the sake of all alcoholics.

-- Who are you to say what he regrets or not? He's been quoted exactly the way it says in this article, i.e. that he regrets being an alcoholic. He regrets that part of his life.

I just removed it - not because I think it's unimportant, but because it is an unsupported statement. I'd be all for someone adding it back - even quoting his exact words - but it needs a citation for where it's been previously published at. (Perhaps his biography?)

Also, folks, please remember to sign your talk page entries. Thanks! NickBurns 19:09, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Yay - thanks for readding the info WITH citation. Awesome! NickBurns 21:17, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gift?

When Kamprad was 17, his father gave him a gift for succeeding in his studies. He used this gift to establish what has grown into IKEA. What gift? Needs clarification, otherwise should be removed.--203.87.6.149 13:11, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Done. It was a monetary reward. I agree that the wording of that sentence is a little clumsy. --Sus scrofa 13:47, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] So, how did he Really get money?

It seems that he traded matches in the farm, got some (how much? 10 buck, or ten million??) money from a gift and created a $30 billion dollars worth shop. Tell us something about why the furniture is so cheap (children labor in asia not much different from slaves). Tell me why he (who can't even learn well (!)) managed to build this IKEA empire, while a lot of other people failed.

[edit] Clash of Data,i think

This page says his net worth is $33Billion and is fourth richest person in the world, the Lakshmi Mittal page says that he is worth $50Billion and fifth richest in the world, obviously one of them is wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.169.0.59 (talk) 08:06, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

This biography is usefull if one applys for a cleaner position in IKEA and wants to impress human resource office. Otherwise the article doesnot worth reading.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.72.176.18 (talk • contribs)

[edit] Bill Gates is no more number one.

Dear All

According to the new list of forbes released on March 5, 2008, Bill Gates is no more the richest person. The richest person is now Warren Buffet. Can someone with the editing rights please make the correction in this article.--202.147.160.172 (talk) 06:49, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

The error i have mentioned is in the section 'Net Worth' in the line 'Forbes magazine continues to rank Bill Gates at #1, ranking Kamprad at #4.' --202.147.160.172 (talk) 06:54, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

According to Swedish business life the networth of Ingvar Kamrad exceeds 88 billion dollars. It is a bit difficult to know exactly since there are a number of different holdings and foundations controling the company. However they are all owned by IK and/or his family as you probably know. Forbes are however far from the targe with their estimates.

[edit] Net Worth section

The addition made by 86.140.121.122 on March 6 seems incongruous and unnecessary. As I am only a peripheral contributor to the Wiki I will refrain from removing it myself, but it seems like this content must go against some Wikipedia policies. - 19 April 2008
