I restored the U.S. census demographic data that had been deleted on Jan. 31. The numbers in the data had been "adjusted" on Dec. 28, so I used the Nov. 10 version. Malepheasant 02:35, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Because the city lies next to LAX, the US' busiest immigration port of entry and its' proximity to South L.A., you find the majority (you see the data in front of you) of Inglewood residents are non-white and/or foreign-born. The city was mostly black (the 'white flight' began after the 1965 Watts riots) from 1970 to 1995 when Hispanics are the largest ethnic group (about to be a majority through immigration). There are whole sections of Inglewood became populated by Mexicans and Central Americans, Asian Americans and some white Americans still live there. But the large African-American population had been what people thought of Inglewood, but I'm told of some African (like Kenya, Nigeria or Ethiopia) and Middle Eastern people moved in there in the 1990s, and I've seen more Latinos than blacks whom nearly replaced the white population long ago. Not everyone in the city is poor or on welfare (the local media shown too much of this) and rising home values is an example of upper-class Blacks, and Whites, foreign-born or native-born, now want to live in Inglewood. There used to be many Europeans, refugees came after WWII in the western parts near what's the I-405 freeway, but had moved on in the 1960s. I've known a family friend, whose parents of Italian descent lived in Centinela Park and most of her neighborhood were Greek, Polish, Hungarian and Lithuanian (this is her opinion or up to her knowledge of neighbors who may told her that). I should come back with most recent census results on local demographics (by race, national origin and socio-economic class). 207.200.116.133 06:45, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello "Is it me or does the percents exceed 100 Percent? How and why would it exceed 100 percent?") - The racial makeup of the city was 51.13% Black or African American, 45.04% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, 17.10% White, 1.14% Asian, 0.69% Native American, 0.36% Pacific Islander, 27.38% from other races, and 4.20% from two or more races. [edit] Music videos

Am I the only one that noticed Inglewood,CA was mentoined in two music videos: Mike Jones' "My 64" and Common's "The People" INGLEHOOD! 21:47, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Paul Pierce

Noticed that Inglewood was credited as the birthplace of Paul Pierce, but that is actually false. Paul was born in Oakland, but moved to Inglewood before high school. He did attend Inglewood High, but was not born there, nor does he consider himself from Inglewood, rather Oakland. I know his brother Jay... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.78.171.28 (talk) 20:27, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Born in Inglewood

We have a list of people claiming to be born in Inglewood, but no sources for any of the information. Let's try to clean up that section. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 18:41, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

I have provided source for all the people reputedly born in Inglewood and will now go to work on the section just below — the one where folks are claimed to have some connection with Inglewood, which is really no big deal at all, and I wonder why we even have it?
The goal is to turn this article into a model for Wikipedia articles about small towns, instead of a collection of disparate "factoids." Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 14:09, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Blacks and Latinos

Please help expand these sections, with proper references. You can use Gladys Waddingham's book (she has much more than what I have added) for the African-American era, and you can use the L.A. Times files for a whole lot, too. Don't just toss in stuff because you "heard it somewhere"; Inglewood is much too good for that. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 18:43, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Grand Theft Auto

The "fact" that Inglewood was a disguised location in Grand Theft Auto needs a source other than fan blogs, fan sites and copies of the old Wikipedia article. Is there anybody in a position of authority who has made that statement? If so, use him or her as a source. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 08:01, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
