Ingram Wilcox
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ingram Wilcox (born 1944) is a British quiz enthusiast who is best known for becoming the fifth person to win one million pounds on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in the United Kingdom on September 23, 2006. In two previous appearances he reached the "fastest finger first" stage but didn't get through. His final question was "Which boxer was famous for striking the gong in the introduction to J. Arthur Rank films?" He correctly chose 'Bombardier' Billy Wells to win the prize [1].
In 1980 he reached the final of Mastermind but came third, beaten by Fred Housego. His specialist subject was "The Crusades 1095-1192" in both his heat and the final, but in the semi-final he chose the rather broad subject of "Mammals".
Wilcox lives in Bath. He is a father of five and has worked in the civil service for most of his life, having previously worked in illustration of educational books.
