In 1992 Steuer again changed his skating partner and teamed up with Mandy Wötzel. The pair Wötzel/Steuer became European champion 1995 and World champion 1997. In the same year they also won the Grand Prix final. Wötzel and Steuer both had knee surgery in 1997. Steuer had also a car accident that year, but they still won the bronze medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. In 1998 they turned professional.
