I've been watching your expansion of Joseph Chamberlain with interest, and I'm very impressed with the detail you've been adding. A few minor quibbles, though; I'm not going to fix them in the article yet, because I suspect you've got better access to the appropriate reference material than I have.

  • Please could you check the date of the founding of the NLF at Bingley Hall? 31 February can't be right!
  • I think you're wrong about Chamberlain's apprenticeship. As I understand it the Cordwainers Company is a livery company - a guild, not a business - and is concerned with all shoemaking, not just "Spanish shoes". They were the governing body of the apprenticeship, not the employer. I have to admit I don't know what sort of shoes the Chamberlain family business made.
  • I see you took out my line about Chamberlain equating Irish Home Rule with the position of London. If you're interested, the exact quote is
"I cannot admit that five millions of Irishmen have any greater right to govern themselves without regard to the rest of the United Kingdom than the five million inhabitants of the metropolis."
...from his speech at Warrington on 8 September 1885 (Chamberlain, Mr Chamberlain's Speeches ed Boyd (1914) vol I p.243.
  • Please could you fill in the edit summary? It makes it a lot easier to make sense of the page history.

Hi. You wrote in your recent edit of Chamberlain that he was not a member of the Cons. Yet the Lib Unionists and the Cons merged in 1912, and Joe the MP didn't kick the can until 1914.
