  • country: The name of the country for which the team represents (required) use teamname for the British and Irish Lions and the Pacific Islanders.
  • countryflag: Three letter country code for the team
  • countryflagvar: type rugby if there exists more than one variant of the flag
  • image: Place here the logo of the team, do not use square brackets
  • imagesize: defaults to 125px, if the image looks bad, use to adjust image size. (format eg. 100px)
  • union: The official name of the union. (required) do not use for the British Lions and PI, instead use unions
  • nickname: Any nickname that the team may have
  • coach: if known, the name of the coach be placed here - use square brackets around the name to link it.
  • from: Since what year has the coach been in place?
  • captain: Name of the national side captain - use square brackets around the name to link it.
  • caps: Name of the player with most caps/test appearances - use square brackets around the name to link it.
  • top scorer: Name of the player with most points scored - use square brackets around the name to link it.
  • most tries: Name of the player with most tries scored - use square brackets around the name to link it.
  • appearances: Name of the player with most appearances in all matches (used for Invitational sides and the British Lions) - use square brackets around the name to link it.
  • toptestscorer: Name of the player with most points scored in tests (used for the British Lions) - use square brackets around the name to link it
  • pattern_la, pattern_b, pattern_ra, leftarm, , body, rightarm, shorts, socks: See Template talk:Football kit to see how this works.
  • first: The first game played and when
  • bigwin: The largest winning margin the team has had

  • World cup apps: Place here the number of world cup appearances the side has had. If 0, leave blank.

  • best: Insert the best result in a world cup. If no appearance, leave blank.

[edit] Invitational sides

Special circumstances are in play for sides such as the British and Irish Lions and the Pacific Islanders. In cases such as these, use the teamname and the unions parameters.

[edit] Only for national sevens sides

place |sevens = yes into the template field.

[edit] Strips

If you don't know the change strip, leave those fields blank. The change strip will only show if the shorts2 parameter is filled.

[edit] Unions

I don't think a Union is that relevent to all clubs, so I'm going to remove that option from some, like the French teams, where all the unions are the same. Cheers. Cvene64 07:01, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

If the team is playing in an international competition, its home union is important IMHO. --Bob 17:56, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Third kits

What can be done about clubs' third kits in the infobox? At the minute it seems like only home and away kits can be shown. PeeJay 16:42, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

The only problem I see about that would be the placement of the kit. A third kit would balloon the infobox's width by half again if the kit were to be placed next to the others. Only other option would be to place the kit on it's own row underneath. --Bob 17:49, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Symbol/Emblem?

What about adding a Symbol/Emblem parameter under the nickname? Something like (England e.g.) Emblem: a Red Rose. --necronudist 09:50, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

If nobody disagree I'll add it tomorrow. --necronudist 14:12, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Y Done --necronudist 12:15, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Erm, I disagree. Why is this parameter necessary? – PeeJay 15:48, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
It isn't necessary, like the nickname. But many teams are well known by nickname or by their emblem, plus emblem often explains the nickname (e.g. Pumas). --necronudist (talk) 15:53, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
If it's not necessary, what's it doing in the infobox? The infobox should only contain essential information, such as the team's name, logo, most common nickname, year of establishment, etc. The emblem they use for their logo should be quite obvious by the image used in the infobox, and any explanation of said emblem should be put in the main text of the article. – PeeJay 16:04, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, few people knows that the English red rose is the Red Rose of Lancaster (originally, I put the link on the Emblem section...now there's only a useless "Red Rose"...you know...we all know how to recognize a red rose :-D ). Or "What the hell is this??" "A Carduus!" "Oh...!". This was the original purpose. However delete the field if you think it's useless. Or maybe discuss it on the WP:RUGBY --necronudist (talk) 17:29, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] IRB World Rankings

Think someone could add a parameter for IRB World Rankings? I noticed that for men's national teams in football (soccer):

  • The standard men's national team template not only has entries for the FIFA World Rankings and Elo ratings, but also entries for the highest and lowest rankings that a team has ever attained in both.
  • For women's national teams, the current FIFA Women's World Ranking is included, though not a high or low.

IMHO, I think only the current IRB ranking is needed... unless someone wants to dig through and retrieve the high and low also. — Dale Arnett 22:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Should only include IRB ranking. This can change quite regularly unfortunately, but as the ranking is include in many of the national team articles then having it in the infobox is a good idea. - Shudde talk 22:49, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
