[edit] Redundancy

There's some element of (possible) redundancy here. Look at Trinity's infobox in particular, "Federated" and "UofT affiliation" say the same thing. Any ideas for a solution? --Sycron 04:45, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Also, if you take a look at the Oxford college infobox, it's much cleaner. Template:Oxford College Infobox - or Oriel College (which happens to be a featured article, but I digress. I'm going to play around with the look a bit - try to make it a bit cleaner. If you object, by all means revert.--Sycron 04:52, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I disagree with the assersion that it is redundant to have "Federated" and "UofT affliation" because firstly "federated" is an "addition" to "established" as it show the year the college gave up the rights to grant degrees to the University of Toronto. UofT has two main types of Colleges affliations and one sub-type: the two main affliation types are "Federated" and "Constituent" and the sub-type is "Constituent with a Federated College", which only one college, Emmanuel College, has that designation as the others that previously had that designation are now defunct. Anyways, my point is that there is no redundancy, as "Federated" is basically a major point in a timeline, in other words, it can be compared to the "establishment" sections of the infoboxes on conntry articles. You're very right in the broader case. However, in the case of Trinity College (and of all of the Federated colleges) there's a distinct redundancy. To say that "X was Federated in xxxx" and to follow that up with "UofT Affiliation: Federated" is redundant in the strictest sense of the word. It tells the same story with more words than are necessary. By sheer virtue of the fact that it was Federated in xxxx we already know that it's a federated college. Of course, the case is very different with the constituent colleges. I believe that in the case of the federated colleges, we ought to keep only one - and the Federated date seems to provide more implicit information. Thoughts? --Sycron 05:14, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I changed it and merged a section so that instead of "Federated 1904", it will now say "UofT affiliation Federated in 1904". Nat Tang ta | co | em 05:56, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Might look better in brackets, but that's a minor point. I'll look at all of this again tomorrow, with some suggestions and comparisons.--Sycron 06:37, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Trincrest.png

Image:Trincrest.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
