Template talk:Infobox Province Thailand
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In this case the template page itself is clearer than the contents listing above, because in the former the table formatting is rendered, not listed. There is only the oddity that a parameter such as Capital is shown as {Template:Capital}. It would be worse if there happened to be a page Template:Capital, with its contents being shown.
Also informative, perhaps even clearest, is an example, like below. A little confusing is the rendering, instead of mentioning, of the variable PAGENAME.
Thus various representations of the content each contribute to conveniently understand it.

[edit] Problems
- The name of the capital can be disambiguated, however currently parameters with a | don't work in templates. There is at least one province where this will happen (Nan province). See MediaWiki 1.3 bug reports

- Works now.--Patrick 14:47, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- The map does not show, even though the link generated points to the map image page. As long as this bug isn't fixed the template cannot be used yet. See MediaWiki 1.3 bug reports.
- Now it works: the whole image syntax is a parameter value, and this does not contain a "|".
- No, that way the alt-text on the image is lost. That way it worked earlier already, but that isn't the way I intended to use it. The image should be referred as something like [[Image:Map.png|Map of Thailand showing whatever]]. And as the | in parameters doesn't work that one is totally impossible so far - and the template should eliminate the ugly long repetive text. So please don't use the template yet unless this problems are resolved. andy 07:55, 14 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Is this in use in Japanese wikipedia too? If so, I will use this system for categorization.... You know Japanese wikipedia have to type again in hiragana when we categorize articles.--Ramendra 20:38, 3 Sep 2004 (UTC)
