Template talk:Infobox Me place

[edit] Purpose

I've created this template in hope that one day it will replace the existing Template:Infobox LOTR place. The main reason is that I strongly dislike LOTR in the title of the latter (we had a precedent with Template:Infobox LOTR), but I've also decided to take the opportunity to bring about several changes. Thus I've merged nearly duplicating each other fields "type" and "description", and replaced the "realm" and "sub-realm" fields with single "location": only quite major places merit their own articles, and in addition these are not always situated in other realms. Also added "books" to be consistent with other infoboxes. (The layout without borderlines looks better IMHO, but it is a matter of taste and can be easily changed if anyone disagrees.) Changes are not major, and possibly the older template can be replaced by a bot (or my proposal can just be dropped), but I would prefer manual updating of pages - especially since we now have a new location-merging drive. Looks good. It may be possible, once everything is updated, to merge the two templates and redirect the LOTR one here. I'm sure that's possible, though it might be best to check elsewhere and with others. Carcharoth (talk) 12:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
