Template talk:Infobox Language/Indic
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a sub-template of {{language}}: it is not meant to stand alone. It is based on {{IndicText}}, and displays an footer notice at the bottom of the infobox about Indic script display issues. This notice is currently not selected automatically under any situations, but must be called with the parameter definition |notice=Indic. --Gareth Hughes 19:13, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yes I understand that. However, is there a problem in keeping it appearing the same as the {{IndicText}} template? Surely some sort of consistency is desirable? Sukh | ਸੁਖ | Talk 19:25, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Reasons for text changes
Okay, here's why I've changed the text, to what in my opinion is better English:
- an Indic script -> Indic text: More than one script may be use. This was changed by another user on the other Indic templates.
- sufficient text -> rendering: More accurate terminology and is no harder for the reader to understand.
- placements -> positioning: Positioning sounds better than the awkward plural form of placement. (Should it be 'vowel placement' or 'vowel placements'?)
- no conjuncts -> a lack of conjuncts: Well, IMHO this just sounds better.

[edit] Recent changes to border
Hi Garzo,
Your recent changes have added a border around the main body of text and around the image. Was this intended? Sukh | ਸੁਖ | Talk 15:07, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- No. The CSS on {{language}} has changed, and that created the border. I tried a few things to get the border switched off here, bt they didn't work. I'll have another look at it soon. --Gareth Hughes 16:31, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- I tried border:none, but apparently it didn't work; I don't really understand why. — mark ✎ 14:58, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

border-width:0
was the trick that overrode the global stylesheet! --Gareth Hughes 19:29, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
