[edit] Unable to disambiguate
As it stands, there's no way to specify a specific person for a coach link if there's multiple people with the same name. For some people (Mike Krzyzewski), this clearly isn't a problem. For others (Roy Williams), the only way to get the right one is to put Roy Williams (coach) as the entry, which just looks lame. Any ideas as to how to fix this?
I think a similar thing needs to be done for conferences, where long names can be somewhat cumbersome, and in the case of the independents, the only way to get the appropriate page is to put in NCAA Division I independent schools (basketball), the actual name of the page. --fuzzy510 18:11, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- I find this layout to be a bit constraining as well. Wouldn't it work if we simply removed the [[]]tags around the Coach and Conference tags? They'd no longer be auto-linked but the user could resolve that on a page per page basis. Thoughts? Pepto gecko 18:32, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

- No complaints here. If anything your actions are are a trite circumspect ;-) Live long and prosper! Pepto gecko 18:39, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Colors
It is very hard to read text in the second half of the infobox when the team color is the background, and I suggest only using the colors in the two small squares the line below Colors: x and y.
I'm an amateur at wiki-formatting, but what I mean is that the only thing that should be colored is the two boxes under Colors: Navy Blue and White, and the rest of the table cells, NCAA Tournament Champions: 1991, 1992, 2001 and so on should be colored normally.

- Check out the "fontcolor" variable. That will allow you to specify the color of the font. Moverton just added that ability a few days ago. See Kansas Jayhawks basketball. X96lee15 23:31, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

- Yes... that looks much nicer. Hangfromthefloor 16:58, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Stylized uniforms
I somewhat boldly added (optional) parameters for stylized uniforms. These uniforms are used by a number of national basketball team pages and I think are superior to the "colors" option discussed above. I have added these optional parameters above and you can see how they look on the Duke example. Please see {{Basketball kit}} for instructions on how to use colors and patterns. - I like the idea, but with a lot of teams using alternate jerseys to complement just the home and away (Duke's black jerseys and George Mason's golds come to mind), and the fact that this entire project is right now in its infancy, I'm not sure that it's the greatest thing to implement quite yet. --fuzzy510 20:55, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

- Obviously, adding a third, optional uniform is very easy (though a bit wide--we might have to tweak the {{Basketball kit}} template a bit). The way that the people who do {{football kit}} (i.e., soccer uniform) handle this--and they're the experts--is that alternate uniforms, which tend to change from season to season, go by themselves in a box somewhere in the article (see Celtic F.C. 2006-07, e.g.).
- All that being said, I feel like this style of presenting team colors is, like anything else, better done early in the project than later. Further, we can also take this opportunity to improve the uniform template to allow some detail in shorts, different colored numbers, etc. Rolando 22:02, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- The uniforms do not seem to be optional. There is no way to turn them off as far as I can tell. The reason this is problematic is the limited availability of kits for uniforms...particularly color choices for panels. For instance, I cannot create an accurate Pitt away uniform because there are no available gold side panels. It would be great to be able to customize side panel colors with hex values, but until someone can do that, can we make the jersey display optional? Or am I missing something. Thanks cp101p (talk) 05:07, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- True, it's not optional and hasn't been for a while. Generally, you've got to add them yourself, or request them at Template talk:Football kit (or possibly Template talk:Basketball kit. In any case, I created this one for you Image:Kit body oldgoldsides.png. Look good? Rolando (talk) 02:47, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Rolando, thank you very much. Actually, the color oldgold that you did wasn't even close, but that allowed me to see how you construct the kits and I was able to make a set Image:Kit body vegasgoldsides.png that matched much better. Thank you for your help!cp101p (talk) 19:19, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Nice. The Pitt uniforms look good! And thanks for adding the item to pattern list. Who knows how many useful patterns are out there that are not on that list? Rolando (talk) 14:21, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Problems with Template
It seems that this infobox does not allow the Table of Contents to collapse. I do not know if this has been discussed before but I think it's a problem that definitely needs to be fixed. I thought it was just my page at first but with a little help I've discovered that it's also a problem on other CBB team pages. DanThaMan17 17:25, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] What happened to the NIT?
What happened to the NIT parameters? Until the mid 1950s or so, the NIT was THE tournament that determined the national champ. That's a big deal. If a team won a national championship in the 50s, they should be able to put that act in the infobox. Wrad (talk) 16:54, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Student sections
What is the consensus on adding a parameter for student sections? Several student sections (Cameron Crazies and most of them from the Big Ten) have articles. I'm sure there are others. BroadSt Bully (talk) 23:36, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- I have no problem. Schools without such sections can just ignore it. Wrad (talk) 23:37, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Done and done. I created it, and CrazyPaco helped make it an optional setting for those schools without a student section organization.BroadSt_Bully [talk] 19:47, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
