Template talk:Infobox Belgian Province
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An example of how to use this template. Add the text to the page in question and the box will appear as shown below.
Because of the nature of Belgium I've allowed for up to 3 'local language' parameters in the template. If we pass the whole 'string' into the template, then we have to do slightly more work on each page, but less in the template. This way we can give the local names in order of the dominance of the local languages for the province. i.e. Language1 = Dutch/Flemish in Flanders and French in Wallonia. Language2 vice versa. Language3 is available for areas where there is a German speaking population and hence a german name as well. Sorry, I can't be doing with Walloon, Limburgush, or a distinction between Dutch and Flemish. I wish I had time to learn the difference but I don't and in any case it's the English version of Wikipedia.

[edit] Possible alternative
I've taken the liberty of drawing up an alternative infobox for the Provinces of Belgium, based on the infobox found on the French Wikipedia. It can be found here: User:Ganchelkas/Sandbox/TestTemplate It still needs some work though. --Ganchelkas 11:00, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
