[edit] Usage
{{Infobox roller coaster simplified |name= |image= |caption= |location= |coordinates= (use {{coord}} with ''display=inline,title'') |section= |type= |status= |opened= |manufacturer= |designer= |model= |track= |lift= |height= |drop= |length= |speed= |inversions= |duration= |angle= |capacity= |cost= |acceleration= |gforce= |restriction= |rcdb_number= }}
This template should be used instead of {{Infobox roller coaster}} when the automatic unit conversion and categorization features in the main template are not desirable. The main use of this template is in an article about multiple installations of a widely-cloned coaster, such as Batman: The Ride
The "rcdb_number" parameter is the NUMBER in the URL (not the full URL) of the coaster's entry at the Roller Coaster Database. For example, Kingda Ka's RCDB page is http://www.rcdb.com/id2832.htm so the RCDB Number for Kingda Ka is 2832. It's an optional parameter, but should always be used.
[edit] Microformat
The HTML mark up produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue article across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.
hCard uses HTML classes including:
- "adr"
- "county-name"
- "fn"
- "label"
- "locality"
- "nickname"
- "note"
- "org"
- "region"
- "street-address"
- "vcard"
Geo is produced by calling {{coord}}, and uses HTML classes:
- "geo"
- "latitude"
- "longitude"
Please do not rename or remove these classes.
When giving coordinates, please don't be overly precise.
