[edit] Usage

This template can be used for any park, nature reserve or gardens.

Copy and paste the template below, into the page you want your template in.

{{Infobox park
 | park        =
 | image       =
 | image size  =
 | caption     =
 | type        =
 | location    =
 | coordinates =
 | size        =
 | opened      =
 | operator    =
 | visitors    =
 | status      =
}}

All the fields are optional. The 'park' parameter will default to the page name if left blank. You should define your image size if appropriate. 275px is a good standard size.

If you leave a field blank it will not display on the article page.

The example on the right was created using the following code:

{{Infobox park
|park= park example
|image= Park.jpg
|image size= 275px
|caption= park with fountain and lake
|type= public park
|location= townsville, country
|coordinates= {{coord|90.000|90.000|display=inline,title}}
|size= 100 hectares
|opened= 2000
|operator= townsville city council
|visitors= 1,000,000
|status= open all year
}}

[edit] Coordinates

Use {{coord}} with display=inline,title.

[edit] Microformat

The HTML mark up produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue article across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.

hCard uses HTML classes including:

  • "adr"
  • "county-name"
  • "fn"
  • "label"
  • "locality"
  • "nickname"
  • "note"
  • "org"
  • "region"
  • "street-address"
  • "vcard"

Geo is produced by calling {{coord}}, and uses HTML classes:

  • "geo"
  • "latitude"
  • "longitude"

Please do not rename or remove these classes.

When giving coordinates, please don't be overly precise.
