A Pirate Ship Infobox may be used to display and summarize information about a ship used by pirates or in piracy.

The infobox should be added using the {{Infobox Pirate Ship}} template, as shown below:

  • name – the name of the ship that is most used (or it is famously known)
  • serviceyears – the years the ship was used.
  • motto – the motto of the ship.
  • image – optional – an image of the ship. The image must be given in the form [[Image:Example.jpg|300px]]; in particular, the thumb attribute must not be selected.
  • caption – optional – a caption for the image.
  • nickname – optional – the nickname of the ship.
  • manufacture – optional – the country that made the ship.
  • flag – optional – the flag the ship flew the most (or most famously flown).
  • allegiance – optional – the country or other power the ship served. Multiple countries may be indicated together with the corresponding dates.
  • owner – optional – the person/group that owned the ship.
  • captains – optional – the captain of the ship. Multiple captains may be indicated together with the corresponding dates.
  • originalname – optional – the original name of the ship if it was renamed.
  • renamed – optional – what the ship was renamed. Multiple names may be indicated together with the corresponding dates.
  • captured – optional – who captured the ship.
  • fate – optional – the fate of the ship.
  • battles – optional – famous battles or wars fought in.
  • notes – optional – any notes about the ship.
  • displacement – optional – the displacement of the ship, preferably at least full load displacement
  • length – optional – the length of the ship
  • beam – optional – the beam of the ship
  • draught – optional – the amount of water the ship draws
  • propulsion – optional – the propulsion method of the ship
  • complement – optional – the number of men serving on board the ship including split into different organisations if appropriate and known, e.g. a boarding party and gunner crew
  • armament – optional – the armament that the ship possessed (guns, cannons, etc.)
