This template is designed to accept for each railway station in the Netherlands the same template call as the Dutch version nl:Template:Infobox NS-station (backlinks, [../../../../../nl/articles/i/n/f/Template%7EInfobox_NS-station_0efc.html edit]), for compatibility: the template calls can simply be copied from the Dutch Wikipedia.
Therefore it uses some Dutch parameter names:
- afbeelding = image name (of photo)
- onderschrift = caption
- positiekaartnaam = part of the name of Template:Location map positiekaartnaam" containing the name and coordinates of a map. By creating a redirect the Dutch parameter value can be used to refer to the template with the English name. See also below.
- stationscode = station code
Some other parameters with Dutch names in the template calls are currently not used in the template, but kept in the template calls for later use (direct use or translation) when the template is extended. For those for which the value does not require translation, like those above, the Dutch parameter name will be retained, so that the extension of the template immediately works on all pages with the template call. For parameters for which the value requires translation, if used in the template, a parameter with a translated name will be introduced. For each station it will work after translating both name and value of the parameter in the template call.
Currently the template produces a header, an image with caption, the station code, and a location map.
