Examples:
- "School" would = Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayāna, or the Early Schools
- "Practice School" (sometimes referred to as simply "school", "sect", or "tradition") = Thammayut Nikaya, etc. in the Theravada; Zen, Pure Land, Avatamasaka, etc. in the Mahayana; and Gelug, Kadampa, etc. in the Vajrayāna
- "Lineage" = Rinzai, Soto, Obaku in Zen
- "Order" = Tiep Hien, Amida, Myoshin-ji, etc.
- "Titles/Honors" could include Geshe in the Vajrayāna school, "Venerable", Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, etc.
