[edit] Scope

Like the related WikiProject, it is suggested that the scope of this infobox reaches members of the royal family (i.e. those having, at some point in their lives, bore the style Highness, Royal Highness, or Majesty) since the ascension of George I. Generally speaking, unless said descendant/spouse is a foreign monarch (in which case Template:Infobox Monarch was be recommended), it would be acceptable to add this Infobox to their article.

[edit] Usage

{{Infobox British Royalty
| (none/relative; highness/lesser; royal/prince; majesty/monarch)
'none' for any member of a royal family who isn't royal (i.e. never held any of the
realm's royal styles such as Prince, Highness, Royal Highness or Majesty)
'relative' as above, i.e. a relative of a royal family
'highness' for anyone whose highest British style was Highness
'lesser' for any lesser royalty, in line with the above, but not necessarily of that
                  precise style
'royal' for anyone whose highest British style was Royal Highness
'prince' or 'princess' for any prince or princess not fitting into 'highness', 'lesser'
                  or 'consort' (see below)
'majesty' for anyone whose highest British style was Majesty
'monarch' for any monarch in the British isles, regardless of rank or style
| consort (if the subject is the consorts of any monarch)
| name = Most common name (e.g. George III; Prince William Augustus (not William Augustus, Duke of
Cumberland); Sophie (neither Princess Edward nor Princess Sophie); Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon
(rather than Queen Elizabeth); Prince William (rather than Prince William of Wales) etc.)
| title = Principal title(s) in use (e.g. King of England; prev. Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Henry
of Wales (without preliminary style (e.g. ''HRH'')))
| image = X.jpg

         pixels); defaults to 262)

| issue = Descending in order of birth, separated by line breaks (<br />); listed by name and

[edit] microformat

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.

Date-of-birth ("bday") parameters will only be included in the microformat if {{Birth date}} or {{Birth date and age}} are used in the infobox.

hCard uses HTML classes including:

  • adr
  • bday
  • county-name
  • fn (required)
  • honorific-prefix
  • honorific-suffix
  • label
  • locality
  • nickname
  • note
  • org
  • role
  • vcard

Please do not rename or remove these classes.
