Apparently Portugal did not have in 1820's a surplus royal prince to wed Ana, and recognize her child. That would have been the usual solution to a situation of a princess being pregnant.
However, marriage with a Marquis is not very unbecoming to a royal princess, using the standard of today, but also using the medieval standard.
