Information logistics

Information logistics, as a section of information management, deals with the flow of information within an organizational unit. The primary goal is the optimization of the availability and cycle time of information. With other words, information logistics is about providing
- the correct information
- at the accurate point of time
- in the correct format / quality
- for the intended recipient
- at the right location
Methodes for achieving the goal are
- the analysis of the information demand
- the optimization of the flow of information
- securing technical and organizational flexibility
The expression was formed by the Indian mathematician and librarian S. R. Ranganathan.
