[edit] The school
Information Technology High School is dedicated towards using computers as tools in all subjects taught at the school. The school principal, Ms. NoraLee Montemarano, came to the school after rethinking the role of computers for the Department of Education's Alternative Education school district under Superintendant Richard E. Organisciak.
[edit] School building and campus
The school building located on 44th Road was built on the former site of a metal plating factory and is leased by the New York City Department of Education. In 2007, public officials and parents expressed concern that the school building sits above an underground toxic waste plume.[6][4][7]
