[edit] History
Established in 1990. It was an ambitious venture started by Informatics (Pvt) Ltd. (IPL) with a vision to produce a new generation of qualified IT professionals who continue to be highly sought after by the industry.
IICS was registered in 1991 with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission under the Tertiary and Vocational Education Act No.20 of 1990 for registration of Institute and Examination Regulations.
IPL has been in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), the largest non federal university in UK, to conduct the BSc (Hons) in Information Systems and Computing since 1990. This collaboration enabled IICS to deliver MMU courses in Sri Lanka and award the same qualification as those given by MMU in the UK. The first set of students of the programme graduated in 1994.
In 2002 IICS changed it's name to IIT and in 2005 started a collaboration with the University of Westminster (UOW), UK. The first set of students from the UOW graduated in 2007.
