[edit] rfa thanks

Hey IDB, I just wanted to thank you for participating in my recent RFA. while my RFA was run under the shadow of a giant, at least a few people saw fit to pose extra questions to me =). you may be interested in my in-depth RFA analysis (comments welcome). I've also left some templated thank spam below for you. cheers, xenocidic (talk) 13:46, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

oh, I almost forgot. for a double support, you get a double thanks! thanks again! ;> xenocidic (talk) 23:53, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
LOL Oops! Sometimes it's hard to remember if I've already chimed in on things and I miss my vote in a scan of the existing ones  :) --InDeBiz1 Review me! | Talk to me! 00:04, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your RFA

I've been reviewing your stats and contribs for the past few minutes, and I just wanted to ask you a quick question. According to User:InDeBiz1/Standards for Adminship, you state you want a candidate to have 2000 mainspace edits. You have a little over 1000. Yes, I saw the "Please note that this list is certainly not all-inclusive.", but you only have half of what you personally want to see in a candidate. How do you reconcile this? Useight (talk) 02:24, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the question, it is certainly a legitimate one. Since I originally wrote that list, I have reconsidered my position, recognizing that there are roles in the administrative world that don't necessarily involve "editing," in the purest sense. While it is important for a potential candidate to understand what goes into the editing process, I am much more comfortable with someone who has been around the project long enough to have an understanding of policy and be able to relate that policy to the administrative tasks. I have not gotten around to doing it yet, but it has been my intention to change my original 2K number to 1K and focus more on the understanding of policy, as well as knowing when to invoke IAR.
Thanks again for the question. Please do not hesitate, should you have any more! Regards, --InDeBiz1 Review me! | Talk to me! 02:30, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough. As a bonus, I made it into your Adminship Standards page. I had another question, but I forgot what it was. I may think of it again. In the meantime, your RFA's talk page showing your stats shows that you've edited 666 different pages. Bad timing for a snapshot, haha. My talk page was your 667th. Useight (talk) 02:52, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
LOL Yeah, I noticed that, too. Wonder how long until somebody jokingly brings it up in the discussion process??  :) --InDeBiz1 Review me! | Talk to me! 02:56, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, it's off to a rocky start. But I think with some more experience you'll have a successful RFA in the near future. I had two end in "No consensus" before my third try was a successful one. Useight (talk) 03:46, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
One bad edit, or one edit worded badly, can derail an RFA. I am not opposing you for that particular edit, but instead for having somewhat too little experience. Useight (talk) 03:58, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey, sure, it's not mine. If you click images and the like you can see their licensing details and authors. Most images on Wikipedia are freely licensed so anyone can use them for whatever (just make sure not to use fair use images). naerii - talk 05:07, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your comment on your rfa (spammed links)

Hi, you mentioned a spammed link being a problem in some articles. I haven't looked into the specific issue (sorry), but you can list it for the spam blacklist at MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist#Proposed additions if it's too much of a problem. And you can use Special:Linksearch to find out if it's sneaked in. You should clear any links to to the site if it gets blacklisted so that later editors of articles that do link to the site don't have to wonder what they're doing wrong (since one can't save a revision that has a link to a blacklisted site). - Bobet 07:31, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your comments

I notice you left a fewmessages to that IP who is constantly targeting rhianna (sic), just to let you know, IP's are NEVER blocked perminantly, as IP's change, you could stop someone who has intentions of contributing to wikipedia from doing so, this and the legal threat has convinced me it would be a danger to the project for you to have admin powers. [edit] Closed your RfA per WP:NOTNOW

IndeBiz,

I've closed your RfA as unsuccesful. It ran for about 12 hours and it looked like a good amount of feedback had been given to you. Please let me know if you have any questions. Gwynand | TalkContribs 14:24, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your RfA

I'm sorry to hear that it failed, but glad to hear you're taking the advice you've been given. If you wait a few months, I'm sure you'll be ready for a second RfA. Hell, I'd even nom you.--KojiDude (C) 19:19, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
