[edit] Redid history section
- I entered some background on the history section. it could be a lot better. Everything I put there is word-of-mouth. I have no proof of its authenticity, only what people who remember those days of life in bombay say about them. Anyone interested in fact finding have a really interesting task in hand.

- Thanks Hydkat, ive been meaning to get back to this article, but it is very hard for an NRI like me to get any material on this subject - im thinking of putting it up as a possible INCOTW again... Word of mouth will unfortunatly have to do, although there have been books by international authors on Dawood Ibrahim at least. Vastu 24/01/06

dawood ibrahim
Dawood Ibrahim (also known as Dawood Ebrahim and Sheikh Dawood Hassan) was born in India and is believed to be currently residing in the city of Karachi, Pakistan. Dawood's early career developed in the Persian Gulf states and in India. He is accused of heading a vast, sprawling illegal empire; illegally acquiring money and political clout. His name has become a byword in political, business and law enforcement circles in the manner of Al Capone and Osama Bin Laden. After the Bombay Blasts in 1993, which Dawood had organized and financed, he became India's most wanted man. He is said to have moved from the UAE to Pakistan during the ensuing controversy. In 2003, the United States Government declared Dawood Ibrahim a Global Terrorist and pursued the matter before the United Nations in an attempt to freeze his assets around the world and crack down on his operations after significant diplomatic lobbying by the government of India.

I dont think there is any don like this: South of the vindhyas, A new upcoming mafia don, Hanumantha Rao, has established himself from Hyderabad. He is supposed to be an accolyte of Dawood and is playing an active role within the D-Company. --malapati 12:07, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Edits to Bureaucracy
The section of this article entitled Bureaucracy has been edited by a user who, based on other edits I've seen, may have provided some information that is incorrect. However, I don't know enough about this subject to say for sure. Could someone take a look at that section & determine whether it's entirely verifiable and encyclopedic? Thanks! --Ssbohio 02:42, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merge?
Shouldn't Mumbai underworld be merged (or redirected) here? Khirad 03:36, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Porbandar
i think gujarat should be mentioned, the godmother hentockbhen and her 2 sons have only recently been losing power. And places like ahmadbad are still being controlled in Porbandar by other bigger gangs.one of which i am suprised is hardly ever mentioned; Lakhen. They still control porbandar and hold a key stake in gujarat.I admit their power is decreasing but they are going in to more legal businesses now with the money made in the past 20years. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 158.125.9.4 (talk • contribs) 22:59, 8 December 2006.
