Where did the poverty figures come from and what makes 20% of families in the "most exculsive neighborhood in America" live under the poverty line? Just wondering...

The poverty figures come from the US Census Bureau’s collection of income data in the incorporated municipality. In this case the US Census Bureau sets an income level that they consider bellow the poverty line and people or households earning less than that are considered to be “living in poverty.” The data suggests that roughly 29% of respondents or 20% of families live below the poverty line on Indian creek island. If you examine the data and compare the sample size with that of the other comparable cities on the “wealthiest places to live” list it is exponentially smaller. This extremely small sample size would immediately indicate a very large degree of error.
Now consider basic information such as the island is extremely small with only one road (Indian Creek Drive) and only waterfront homes on one side of the street with the interior of the island reserved for the Indian Creek Country Club and Golf Course. To verify this you can google earth “Indian Creek Island” and actually count the number of homes visible from the air, their location on one side of the road and their relative size. To gain an accurate understanding of home value on the island go to any south Florida real-estate brokerage firm and search “Indian Creek Island.” For an example of one of the islands more famous homes go to http://www.forbes.com/realestate/2006/06/09/expensive-homes-south_cx_lr_0612home.html where Julio Iglesias’ house on the island is listed for 28 million making it one of the 10 most expensive homes in the southeast according to Forbes.com.
Now considering all of this information such as the few number of homes, the value of these homes, the small size of the sample, and the 29% of respondents recording income below the poverty line, it is obvious that the information is inaccurate.
I am making the very probable hypothesis that the high level of people recording incomes below the poverty line is a result of live in help recording income on the island. Quite simply I would say there would be very few people who would own a 5-28 million dollar home and not record capital gains of at least enough to deliver them from the poverty level. While I know for a fact that residents such as former NFL coach Don Shula, Highest Selling Spanish Singer of all time Julio Iglesias, Basketball Coach Rick Petino, Founder of Hotels.com founder Dave Litman, Billionaire Financer Carl Icahn, ect. ect. ect. all record actual incomes well over a million dollars. However among those names (which can be verified through the Dade County PropertyTax Registry) only two claim residency and pay taxes on Indian Creek. Therefore I would guess that many of the 32 homes are not peoples primary residence and therefore their incomes would not be recorded in the census income data.
Live in help would always be recorded where they reside or work which would be completely on Indian Creek.
I believe this explains it all.
