Talk:Independence Party (Iceland)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
NPOV-section-tagged the Fundamental values section because of "However, democracy means more to the Independence Party than to many political movements". What exactly is this supposed to mean? As compared to Nazi Germany, or compared to other Icelandic political movements? Palthrow 18:55, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
This reads like a party brochure. I think it might need editing by someone who is not clearly an active member of the party.
I agree -- too much vague politico-speak. I wouldn't like to edit this myself, since I do not consider myself neutral in the matter. But perhaps some kind soul without strong opinions on Icelandic politics would do the honour? Palthrow 01:13, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
This party is thought to be the least democratic and liberal in Iceland , this cortical is utterly biased and complety wrong, members promoting internet censorship , high tobacco and alcohol taxes and tolls of foregin products.
They have shown extreme hostility against free market such as trying to limit how much a company can own of media with laws although that it was repelled
A party member put extra taxes on unwritten cds, cds, mp3 players and hard drives
This party also got trough a law that makes isp requird by law to keep logs 6 months back in time and to give police the identity of ip without a warrent
The party has a member on its list for next elections who has been in jail for stealing public tax money
There have been also numerous accusations of the party harrasing and interfering with the law and courts such as the Baugs-case and Hafskip
