Maybe Typo ???

\begin{matrix}
V = \left\{
\begin{matrix}
1 & \mathrm{with}\ \mathrm{probability} & 1, \\
0 & \mathrm{with}\ \mathrm{probability} & 1 - q,
\end{matrix}
\right.
\end{matrix}

I feel this should be

\begin{matrix}
V = \left\{
\begin{matrix}
1 & \mathrm{with}\ \mathrm{probability} & q, \\
0 & \mathrm{with}\ \mathrm{probability} & 1 - q,
\end{matrix}
\right.
\end{matrix}
