Portal:India/Selected article candidates
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Here we determine which articles are selected on Portal:India/Selected articles. A selected article should exemplify Wikipedia's very best work. See what is a selected article for criteria. If you nominate an article, you will be expected to make a good-faith effort to address objections that are raised. If you nominate something you have worked on, note it as a self-nomination. Please do not place more than one nomination at a time — this makes it difficult to do each article and its objections justice. Consensus must be reached for an article to be promoted to selected article status. All Selected Article Candidate nominations will be archived after a consensus is reached on their suitability for being Selected Article on Portal:India. For articles that are already featured, if no objection comes in two days since the time of nomination, they will be speedy promoted as selected articles. If any objection comes, the nomination process will run for normal duration. Note that supporting a speedy promotion nomination is not required unless there is an oppose vote for the same. |

[edit] Mangalore
This article has been declared as a Good Article recently. It satisfies the selected article criteria. It is well referenced. It is also India's only city that speaks four local languages. It is also India's and also perhaps the world's only city that has four local names in 4 local languages. Selecting this article will surely be beneficial for the Portal.KensplanetTalkE-mailContributions 05:49, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
