[edit] Questions
Sorry for the delay and apologies in advance if this proves to be a controversial question, but connect Somnath with Tirupati. — Ravikiran 08:08, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- both were looted/pillaged at some time in history? --Idleguy 08:56, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Close, but no. — Ravikiran 09:38, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Temples that were destroyed/damaged in an attempt to quash local faith? -- Samir धर्म 09:43, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- I believe two idols from other temples were each brought to these temples for protection. The Sriranganatha, the deity of Srirangam was brought to Tirupati and a deity from Mecca was alleged to have been brought to Somnath? --hydkat 09:47, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- The somnath claim is pretty controversial... --hydkat 09:48, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
-
- Both were rebuilt? Or both were the richest temples in their heydays. Somnath during much of the last millennium and Tirupati during the latter part. maybe. Idleguy 10:03, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- hows that controversial? --hydkat 10:07, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- Actually, I will give it to hydcat. I misremembered the story and thought that it was idols from Somnath that were brought to Tirupati to escape Ghazni's ravages. Goof up... Hydcat can have the next question. — Ravikiran 11:52, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll pass. I'll give my next question to Longhairandabeard (whenever he come online...) --hydkat 12:51, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Hey thanks! That was unexpected! Here's the next question then: This fictional Indian detective's dog was called Samosa. What detective, and how did he get his name? --Longhairandabeard 17:25, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Chacha Chowdhary? --hydkat 18:23, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- ...and he liked eating samosas? --hydkat 18:28, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Nope.. Chacha Chaudhary's dog was called Rocket. And I was talking about the detective's name, how did he get that name. You are on the right track though. This detective was also a cartoon character. --Longhairandabeard 18:34, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hint: This detective abruptly stopped practice in September 1995. Longhairandabeard 21:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- C'mon guys! There are a lot of Indian cartoon fictional detectives to choose your guesses from! I guess I'll have to start an Indian fictional detectives series here on PINQ. Here's some more googling material: A pair of twins used to be his partners in crime-busting. --Longhairandabeard 01:21, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- No response.. hmmm.. A cryptic clue for you to chew on: 'Bull's eye by alive people who talk to the dead!'. I'll be back in evening IST. --Longhairandabeard 05:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Detective Moochwala, apparently, from the magazine Target. Moochwala in Hindi literally means 'one with the moustache' (Mooch = moustache, wala = one possessing something).
- Cribananda 05:58, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- So close, yet so far...
Moochwala didn't have any dog as far as I know. Moochwala's dog was named Pooch --Longhairandabeard 13:23, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, my mistake (I didn't read the article on the link fully). The guy was called Tegrat (reverse of Target). - Cribananda 17:01, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Right! It was Tegrat, the super-sleuth. The cryptic clue stands for 'Target by Living Media'. Living Media stopped publication of Target in September 95. Over to you Cribananda.. --Longhairandabeard 17:14, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
It is naturally found only in the Gandaki river in Nepal and is of religious significance. What? - Cribananda 00:15, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Didn't have to Google - that was the idea :-) Over to you Samir... - Cribananda 00:28, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Doh, forgot that it was me who had to ask the next question. Will be up in the next little while. Sorry -- Samir धर्म 01:30, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
This is highly cryptic. Link Downtime to Soma -- Samir धर्म 02:17, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Does it have something to do with the Chandrayaan-1 mission? --Longhairandabeard 05:48, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Nope, not at all. Hint #1: It has to do with the Vedic guardians of Soma -- Samir धर्म 08:03, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- something with Indra's Net?--Dwaipayan (talk) 08:34, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Nope. Hint #2: It specifically has to do with the beings that kept and distributed Soma -- Samir धर्म 08:39, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- The Gandharvas -hydkat 12:49, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- More specifically, they wrote a song called Downtime, the Gandharvas are the keepers of Soma. (addnl clue that makes me sure I'm right: You live in Toronto) --hydkat 14:03, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Of course! Sorry for the crypticness -- Samir धर्म 22:41, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- de-indenting Thanks. Next Question in 45 minutes. (2pm IST) --hydkat 07:23, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- ermmm. small delay... will post a question in 5 minutes. -- --hydkat 08:31, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Sticking to the same theme: Connect a deva, a major hindu god, a flickering flame, and name a place. --hydkat 08:34, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hint, the place is a temple. --hydkat 13:22, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- hmmm... no one has worked it out? Anyway Happy Swatantrata Divas guys. --hydkat 20:26, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Random guess.. Jwala Narasimha temple at Yadagirigutta? -Longhairandabeard 01:42, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Kalahasthi temple in AP...the deva is vaayu and Hindu god is Shiva...--Jprakash2002 11:59, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- cool... the question is yours Jprakash and welcome to wikipedia. -hydkat 13:25, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. ..I will post the next question within an hour --Jprakash2002 13:57, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I am actually very new to quizzing , this is my first question so bear with me.
In 1842 Lord A made the famous Proclamation of X, which caused a storm of debate in House of Commons,UK.
Hint: X is connected to BILL GATES.
The oppositon in the house argued that government was catering to the religious prejudices by appeasing Hindus in India.
So who was A ? What is X ? why the proclamation is considered to appease Hindus in India??
--Jprakash2002 14:30, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- A=Ellenborough; X=Gates; Ellenborough, then Governor General of India, claimed the gates of the Somnath Temple, raided by Mahmud of Ghazni, were now part of Ghazni's mausoleum. He issued the proclamation instructing those in charge in Afghanistan to bring the gates back. According to Romila Thapar,[1] there is no record there ever were any gates! -Longhairandabeard 15:15, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Cool....over to you Longhairandabeard --Jprakash2002 16:27, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Here's the next question. Hopefully this one will receive a warmer response than a few of my earlier ones. In what currently spoken language the word 'Hindu' (or a very minor variation of that) refers to all people living in India? Bonus points for finding out what the followers of Hinduism are called in that language. -Longhairandabeard 18:28, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Persian? (This article mentions it) -- Lost(talk) 18:52, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Swahili? =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:55, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Even in Arabic this is true. The chinese word 'indu' has the same connotation. --hydkat 19:17, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- As far as I know, the current Persian and Arabic word for Indian is 'Hindi'. The Swahili word is 'mhindi'. I'll have to grant Chinese though. What I had in mind was Spanish, where the proper term for Asian Indian is Indio or Hindú (as opposed to Indiano for American Indians).. Over to you hydkat.. -- Longhairandabeard 19:32, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hey cool! Next question in five minutes. --hydkat 20:47, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Forgot about the bonus in the question. In Spanish, a follower of Hinduism is called Hinduista. - Longhairandabeard 22:31, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Person X is rumored to have almost gone to war with you-know-who. A particular general confirms this rumour in a book he wrote. What exactly did X do (or more to the point not do...) BTW all this comes under the pharse allegedly --hydkat 21:00, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, a hint: What X did was organise a war game. a very big war game. -hydkat 10:52, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Gen. Sundarji .Bharatveer 11:51, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- and what did he allegedly do (or not do?) -hydkat 14:55, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Did not get Rajiv Gandhi into confidence? The book in question is The Dynasty by SS Gill, I suppose.. - Longhairandabeard 20:23, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'll give it to Long. The tale is also told in an article called 'Brasstacks and Beyond' [2]. Lt-Gen (retd) Prem Nath Hoon, who was the chief of the western command then, has an interesting account about what happened back then, in his book Unmasking Secrets of Turbulence, and in an interview [3].
- Thanks! Next question in half an hour.. -Longhairandabeard 21:30, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Another Indian fictional detective question. This detective didn't like to be called a detective, instead he coined a descriptive word for himself, that translates roughly as 'one searching for truth.' Who? - Longhairandabeard 22:31, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Byomkesh Bakshi and he likes to be called Satyanwesi.--Jprakash2002 00:46, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Right! Great going, Jprakash! Over to you.. -Longhairandabeard 00:52, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks...I will post the next question in an hour --Jprakash2002 01:04, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
In 1926 India became a member of this conference followed by Pakistan after partition. What was the conference I am talking about? --Jprakash2002 02:13, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Shameless googling tells me the answer is: International Cricket Council. -Longhairandabeard 02:23, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Great!!never thought it will be answered in 10 minutes ...all yours Longhairandabeard
- ---Jprakash2002 02:30, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! Next q in 2 hours.. -Longhairandabeard 02:40, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Another Indian fictional detective: This 'friendly' fictional detective has a mythological character namesake as a sidekick. Who? -Longhairandabeard 04:14, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Is it feluda ?? the side kick is Lalmohan Ganguly aka Jatayu --Jprakash2002 11:35, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Um no.. The sidekick is Topshe. Jatayu is another pulp crime writer. — Ravikiran 12:12, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- But I thought Topshe is not a mythological character --Jprakash2002 12:23, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- That is exactly what I am trying to tell you ;) — Ravikiran 13:55, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it's Feluda, real name Pradosh Mittar.. And Jatayu is by his side aiding him in several of the cases, making him a second sidekick. Over to you Jprakash.. -Longhairandabeard 15:08, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
X was a tournament between four communities of India. When the REST of the Indian communities were included X became Y. To participate in Y representing the REST, two non-Indians sailed in the same boat and came to India. Who are they ?
One who finds the name of the persons will get the baton
--Jprakash2002 16:07, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- The Bombay Quadrangular, later Bombay Pentangular, De Saram, S. S. Jayawickreme came on the same boat from Ceylon. - Cribananda 16:47, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Great ...you can ask the next question Cribananda --Jprakash2002 18:02, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Next question in about 7 hours. - Cribananda 20:36, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Taking over the baton.. to keep the ball rolling.. This one is a little obscure but interesting nevertheless. In the beginning of 2001, there was some protest in India over a non-issue. Some politicians named a donkey 'America' and took out a procession, and also named a dog 'George Bush'. What was the issue? --Longhairandabeard 21:31, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Yes it is an interesting info. The issue was Bush's cat's name was India , which our politicians considered offensive, so as a tit-for-tat Congress named a donkey "America" and Shiv Sena named a dog "Bush" --Jprakash2002 21:40, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- That's right. And it turned out Bush's cat was actually named India Ink because she was jet black. Your turn, Jprakash.. --Longhairandabeard 23:09, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
She was an IAS officer and played a key role in setting up an Institute which was first of its kind in India. She also became the first lady Director-general of a Council , related to the Institute. Who was she and what is the name of the council
--Jprakash2002 00:13, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Rathi Vinay Jha - Instrumental in setting up the National Institute of Fashion Technology(NIFT) and was also a member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) . An IAS officer of the 1967 batch. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ratnadeep joshi (talk • contribs)

- Hi Ratnadeep joshi...you have to ask the next question --Jprakash2002 14:31, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Which treasure was kept in the at the Flora Fountain Branch of the HSBC in Mumbai till bought by the Govt. Of India just 4 days ahead of the expiry of a deadline which would have permitted foreign buyers to bid and claim it.——Ratnadeep joshi 20:01, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- The Nizam's jewels. --hydkat 21:19, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- As per this article [4] --hydkat 21:25, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Bingo and over to you Hydkat––Ratnadeep joshi 03:15, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, just came online... need about an hour to come up with a question. If I don't make the 24 hr limit someone plz take my turn. --hydkat 18:32, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
This Indian engineer/soldier was blown up twice in his career, was ambushed and had his ear drums shattered, once cleared mines in a 55 miles long stretch in 4 days, went on to become a General and was awarded a prestigious medal. Who is he? --hydkat 19:01, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Premindra Singh Bhagat -Longhairandabeard 19:22, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ha! Thought you'd get it. over to you --hydkat 19:41, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
All credit to Google.. Hope this one is easy to find too.. What English word is derived from one of the names of Vishnu, and takes its meaning from one of the festivals in India? --Longhairandabeard 21:00, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Juggernaut (from Jagannatha) -- BostonMA 21:05, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- That's right.. your turn, BostonMA.. --Longhairandabeard 23:12, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
This may be an easy one. Find a connection from Hyder Ali to the national anthem of the United States. --BostonMA 23:47, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- This definitely made it easy.. Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan used iron case rockets in several wars, and William Congreve was inspired by one of those to develop the Congreve rockets. The phrase "rockets' red glare" in Star Spangled Banner refers to the British using these rockets against Fort McHenry in 1814. --Longhairandabeard 03:00, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- Correct! The site where Hyder Ali used rockets against the British in 1780 is described in detail here. Over to you Longhairandabeard! (I guess this makes questions about connecting two subjects is now somewhat trivial :-(. --BostonMA 10:29, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. If I have time, I usually check how easy or difficult it is to google the answer. No fun having good qs answered through google in a few minutes. --Longhairandabeard 23:09, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
How about everyone posting their guesses for this question, before looking it up on google? Q: On January 31, 1948, all Indian newspapers carried the news of Mahatma Gandhi's death on the front page, except one. Which one and why? --Longhairandabeard 23:09, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Just a wild guess ...is it Harijan ?? --Jprakash2002 01:22, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Times of India The Hindu. Because the paper had classified ads on the front page? - Parthi 01:24, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Parthi is right.. Over to you, Parthi. -- Longhairandabeard 02:31, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Well, my last two attempts have been answered in record time, so here goes nothing... We know there are any number of political entities in India who claim a role in the Freedom Struggle. However there is a current political entity whose background involves active support of the British Rule. Name the political entity. - Parthi 02:47, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Justice Party that became DMK? -- Longhairandabeard 03:07, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's 20 mins this time. Yay! I've crossed the 15 min mark. Over to Longhairandabeard. - Parthi 03:12, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- For the record, Justice Party did not become DMK. DMK was formed due to a split in DK. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 11:31, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, the article on Justice Party claims that Periyar transformed the Justice Party into DK. I think even that's not accurate to say. As far as I know, Periyar was allied with Justice Party and could have been even a part of it, but that party didn't morph into the DK. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 11:34, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Okay, time for a more difficult question. Connect Bhai Duj with 5179. On second thoughts, this might be a little difficult as there are six jumps involved. Let's see.. If no one comes up with any guesses, I'll unveil the jumps one by one. So, as of now: Bhai Duj => ____________ => ____________ => ____________ => ____________=> ____________ => 5179. -- Longhairandabeard 04:41, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- definitely very difficult....
- this question is going to stay open for a while unlike the recent ones( i think that is the plan :-))...
- Does the first connection have something to do with river Yamuna ?? --Jprakash2002 05:19, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Nope, it has to do with her brother, Yama. Frankly, the more I think about this question, the flimsier the connection seems. I'll open another connection in a few minutes. The q should be more interesting after that. Bhai Duj => Yama => ____________ => ____________ => ____________=> ____________ => 5179. -- Longhairandabeard 10:23, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Another clue: 5179 refers to the fictional Peak 5179 which is central to the storyline in Lakshya. So here we go: Bhai Duj => Yama => ____________ => ____________ => ____________=> Lakshya => Peak 5179. Next clue in about 12 hours, so here is another piece of info that might be useful: of the three blanks, two are people, both namesakes of each other. --Longhairandabeard 11:10, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- How about this one .. The assistant of Yama is Chitra Gupta who belong to Kayasthacaste ,
- the most famous Kayastha today is Amitabh Bachchan who acted in Lakshya.....
- --Jprakash2002 11:57, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Not what I have in mind. Well the blank before Lakshya is the Kargil War. All you have to do is to figure out two people with the same name connected to Yama and Kargil war. So, Bhai Duj => Yama => ____________ => ____________ => Kargil conflict => Lakshya => Peak 5179. -- Longhairandabeard 22:05, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
-
-
- I think i got it this time . It is Nachiketa . According to mythology he is the
- man who went to Yama to understand the true meaning of life. And the modern
- day Nachiketa was a flight lieutenant in Kargil War.He was caught by Pakistan
- spent eight days in captivity and later got handed over to India
- --Jprakash2002 01:14, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
That's correct! The story of Nachiketa is told in Katha Upanishad. I apologize though, guys. I was just back from day 1 of USMLE Step 3 and I guess this question came out as an act of revenge on the world in general. Your turn Jprakash.. --Longhairandabeard 02:38, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Connect Geneva and Chidambaram --Jprakash2002 02:54, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- forgot to mention the connect is two-jump --Jprakash2002 03:04, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Surprised to see no response . I will give one more hint. The first link is an International Organization in Geneva --Jprakash2002 15:49, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
This is a blind guess: The office of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is in Geneva and vinod chidambaram was once the Regional Vice President for Africa for IATA. don;t know if he still is Ratnadeep joshi 16:06, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- No .It is not what I am looking for.One more clue is : connect by considering Chidambaram as a place not as name of a person --Jprakash2002 17:42, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Let me disclose the first connection .The international organization in Geneva is CERN --Jprakash2002 01:52, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- The 128th session of the CERN council held on 18 Jun 2004 ended with the unveiling of a statue of the India God Nataraja gifted by the Govt of India. The primary deity in the temple at Chidambaram is Natarajan.GurufromIndia 06:44, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

-
- Cool...Over to you Guru --Jprakash2002 12:41, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- This is the first time I'm getting it right in this quiz... :) Next question soon... -- GurufromIndia 18:26, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
One more in the 'connect' series... Connect a temple in Kerala and Nuclear Reactors. PS: In case you are wondering, I just changed my display name to my login ID to avoid confusion! --Natrajdr 18:43, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- mm. How about this connection ? There is a temple of Bhima in Kerala and India has a Uranium mine which feeds Indian nuclear reactors in Bhima Basin (Gulbarga district Karnataka). I feel this connection is right after reading your user page.
- --Jprakash2002 23:13, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- You may be correct JP. But thats not what I had in Mind. Btw, quite smart of you to look at my user page for a clue. I do that in most cases. But my userpage does not help here :) --Natrajdr 02:29, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Clue #1: Temple in Kerala -> Mythological Folklore -> Chemical substance -> Nuclear Reactor. The Chemical substance is used is more than a few Nuclear Reactors. --Natrajdr 02:29, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Clue #2: Lead and Lead compounds are used in Nuclear Reactors as coolants. Next clue in 6 hours --Natrajdr 09:18, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Molten lead is used as a coolant. Apparently, according to Manu, molten lead was to be poured in the ears of a low-caste if he dares to recite the vedas or enters a temple. Can't find a direct connect to Kerala though. --Gurubrahma 11:15, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Clue #3: In this temple, legend has it that one can hear the roar of the sea inside the sanctum sanctorium. Molten lead has been poured between rock slabs on the floor to prevent the sea from flooding the temple from below (You can still see the molten lead on the floor of the temple).
Guys, I can't give any more clues :) The next one will be the answer... --Natrajdr 13:55, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Varkala Janardhanaswamy temple?? --Gurubrahma 17:17, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Clue #4: One more... You can hear the sea roaring inside the temple (source: Legend) because the prime deity is lying on the sea on a bed of some animal. --Natrajdr 02:53, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Is it Padmanabhaswamy temple ??--Jprakash2002 03:41, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- You got it Jprakash2002. For those who don't know, the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple is located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and the city is named after it. Over to you Jprakash2002 --Natrajdr 04:48, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay. On 78th Birthday of Gandhiji in 1947, he was gifted something in a public meeting where Nehru and Patel were present. What was the gift ?? --Jprakash2002 13:19, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- The gift was the singing of Hari Tuma Haro by Subbulakshmi. --BostonMA 13:55, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Nope. That is also a gift , but it didnt happen in a public meeting.MS recorded the song in disc and sent it to him . What I am looking for is a present in a public meeting where Nehru and Patel were present. --Jprakash2002 14:04, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- Gandhiji attended a party on his birthday evening hosted by G D Birla which was attended by Nehru and Sardar Patel. "Mirabehn had gaily decorated his seat by improvising in front of it an artistic cross, He Rama and the sacred syllable Om from flowers of variegated colours". Is this the gift? --Natrajdr 15:34, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Nope. I will give two clues.
- Clue #1 : "I intentionally didn't mention the date of his birthday in my question" .
- Clue #2 The gift is very trivial, definitely will not catch our imagination .Our Iron man Patel made a humorous comment about that. --Jprakash2002 16:00, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

re-indenting:My guess is that day Patel announced the rioting had stopped in all of the country? --hydkat 21:38, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

- No Hydkat. I will explain my previous clue #1. The public meeting was held on Oct 11 1947 (not on Oct 2nd) which is Gandhiji's birthday according to Hindu calendar. I read about this gift and Patel's humour in a book "Making of a Nation" --Jprakash2002 00:36, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

- I surmised that this birthday was according to Hindu calendar. However, according to this, MG's fasted on October 1 to celebrate his birthday that year. (I don't have the answer to your question, I'm just noting the discreprency in dates). --BostonMA 02:31, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

- Interesting to find lots of dates. I think it could be because of the different calendars followed in India.
- Coming to the question . I will give one more clue. The gift was given by local Gujarati's.

- Great !!!!!!!! you got it .And the humour is: In the meeting Patel said smilingly "There is no end to your greed! To collect a purse , you will leave even your death bed!"(At that time Gandhiji was sick).
The last question of this round is all yours Boston MA !! --Jprakash2002 14:16, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Connect Bangalore (specifically Brigade Road) with Sherathang.
-- BostonMA 23:45, 27 August 2006
- Does it have something to do with the Cyber-cafe. We have the world's highest cybercafe in Sherathang and in Bangalore,Brigade Road we have the country's pioneering cyber-cafe , started by ABC (Amalgamated Bean Cofffee Trading company) ?? --Jprakash2002 02:56, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

- Yes! that is exactly the connection. The location of the first internet cafe in India is said to be Brigade Road, Bangalore [7]. An internet cafe in Sherathang is claimed to be the highest in the world [8]. Very good. The baton is yours Jprakash2002. --BostonMA 10:31, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
