[edit] History

The Columbus Board of Education formally approved the creation of junior high schools in Columbus, Ohio on July 6, 1909, with Indianola Junior High School being the first. Its school building, located at 140 East 16th Avenue in Columbus, still stands. As of 2006, it housed the Indianola Informal School, which utilizes innovative and nontraditional approaches in the classroom to educate students in kindergarten through the eighth grade. Educational programs are conducted in consultation with education professors and students at The Ohio State University. Now the school is kindergarten through 7th grade and will be adding 8th next year. It is placed at the old arts impact middle school building. That school is now on Fort Hayes campus. Crestview Middle School was closed and Indianola will be moving there when the constructional updating is finished. The scheduled move is in the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year.
